             AIS delivers Visualmine 2.0, a visual data mining tool

Milano, November 1998

AIS  SpA,  IT  company  that  develops  advanced  tools  and  applications, announces  Visualmine  2.0 (http://www.visualmine.com), the environment for visual data mining opened to integration with data analysis applications.

The  advanced  3D  visualization gives new possibilities of analysing large amount of information, supporting data analysts and decision makers.

Visualmine allows  the  analysis  of  a  large amount of data and to quickly profile  their  distribution.  Visualmine offers  a large quantity of visual metaphors  that  supports  all  the phases of the data exploration process: from  the data profiling, to multivariate analysis, to cluster analysis, to pattern identification. Succesfully used in the money laundering prevention by  Ufficio Italiano Cambi, in the credit cards fraud detection at Deutsche Bank, in  the marketing analysis at Banca Monte Paschi, Visualmine offers a set of functions that makes it a unique tool in the market.

The new Visualmine version delivers three new features:

Ø Visual data filtering and rule generation (e.g. the Visual Rule Generator).
Ø Guided support for visual metaphors setup;
Ø A set of API libraries for other environments' integration;

"The  possibility  to create rules starting from the visual indentification of  patterns",  says  Francesco  Gardin, CEO of AIS "is a milestone in data mining  technologies  development,  useful  to save remarkable time for the data  analysis  and for the rule creation. For example, complex rules, that consider  a large number of variables, can be generated with few 3D regions and exported to be re-used and integrated with other analysis.

"The  creation  of standard APIs and the integration with other instruments of  data  modelling"  says Giorgio De Porcellinis, managing director of AIS "allows  the realization of a partnership strategy with other producers: we are  working  with other integration opportunities, both in the data mining instruments (for example Clementine of ISL), and in the OLAP environments".

To launch Visualmine 2.0, AIS has defined a promotional campaign, that will be available for the interested market until 31st December 1998.

AIS  S.p.A  is  one  of  the  most  innovative  European  companies  in the Information  Technology  market,  developing advanced tools and application programmes.
The  headquarters  are placed in Milan with further two branches located in Rome and Verona.
Controlled by the company management, AIS is participated by ICCREA and has a  wide  experience  in the market in areas of expert systems for decisions support  ,  in  distributed  systems  with  client server architectures, in object   oriented   technology,   in   data  mining,  in  Internet/Intranet applications,   in  neural  applications,  in  parallel  computing,  in  3D technology and in medical imaging.

AIS  offers  innovative  software  development instruments, consultancy and training for more than 300 private and public companies. AIS  has  also partnerships with other IT European companies and takes part as  weel  in many international research and development projects funded by the European Community.
