SUMMER INTERN/CO-OP OPPORTUNITY AT IBM RESEARCH: LEARNING/DATA MINING FOR
SYSTEM MANAGEMENT

The performance management group at IBM TJ Watson Research Center is
looking for individuals with strong research qualifications in data mining
and/or machine learning for a summer intern/co-op position.

We are seeking someone to join our efforts to automate performance
management of distributed systems. This encompasses detecting, diagnosing,
and acting on availability and performance problems. We are exploring the
application of learning/data mining techniques to several of these tasks,
including: (a) identifying patterns that are leading indicators of
failures; (b) discovering abstraction hierarchies that characterize problem
causes; and (c) visualizing patterns to aid administrators in labeling
problem situations. For more information about our group, please visit our
websit: http://www.research.ibm.com/PM/perf_mgt.html

Previous research experience in machine learning/data mining is required.
Programming expertise and knowledge of statistics,
computer networks, and distributed systems are extremely helpful.

To apply this position, please email a resume to shengma@us.ibm.com

Thanks,

Sheng Ma
