DM: Data, Text, and Web Data Mining -- Megaputer seminarFrom: Richard Kasprzycki Date: Tue, 19 Sep 2000 17:56:57 -0000
Data, Text, and Web Data Mining
Megaputer Intelligence seminar
Dates
October 20-21, 2000 -- Orlando, FL
Outline
At the seminar you will learn answers to important questions related
to the
analysis of numerical, textual, and web-generated data. We will
outline our
vision of the coming transformation of knowledge discovery into a mass
market technology operating behind the scenes to optimize diverse
business
tasks, especially in the world of e-Business. We will teach you the
best
practices in applying the data mining system PolyAnalyst and the text
mining
system TextAnalyst to real world problems. Finally, we will be happy
to
answer your questions and discuss your project after the seminar,
aiming to
provide you with hints and guidance best suited for your data analysis
project.
Q. How do I integrate data mining tools with an RDBMS?
A. The latest technology for simple integration of data mining
technology
with external applications is the new SQL-based protocol, OLE DB for
Data
Mining. PolyAnalyst is the first data mining system in the market to
implement the support for this new protocol. We will present the
foundations
of OLE DB for Data Mining and demonstrate, with hands-on examples, the
convenience and power of the new protocol.
Q. How do I capture and fully utilize web site visitor information in
order
to increase the value of each visitor in e-Business?
A. E-Business embraces e-Commerce, e-Marketing, e-CRM, etc.
E-Business will
benefit tremendously from incorporating data mining techniques in the
online
business cycle. We first outline this new competitive advantage and
set
goals for web data mining. Next we discuss what data to capture, how
to do
this, how to then analyze this data, and finally how to integrate the
results in a customer relationship management e-system. Different
vendors
are taking the first steps in developing data mining tools for
E-business
tasks. We outline existing strategies and shortcomings.
Q. How do I discover knowledge contained in texts and other
unstructured
data forms?
A. Articles, e-mails, web pages, and memorandums all contain important
information that we would like to distill, store, and use for making
informed decisions. Techniques for analyzing texts differ
significantly from
those designed for analyzing relational databases. Here we discuss
different
existing approaches to intelligent text processing and present
capabilities
and foundations of an innovative text mining tool, TextAnalyst.
