DM: Data Mining List Introduction

Hello,
        My name is Caroline St.Clair.  I am a PhD student at DePaul
University in Chicago.  My current research interests are in data 
mining.
Currently I am working on putting together a proposal for my 
dissertation.  I am looking at ways of applying domain knowledge or 
user knowledge into data mining algorithms, mostly decision trees.  I 
have
just recently become a candidate and I am at the beginning stages of
the dissertation process.  By subscribing, I hope to gain a better 
insight
into the research that is being done in this field and the needs of
business regarding data mining.
