DM: neural/discrete

From: Omer F Rana
Date: Wed, 25 Mar 1998 04:25:51 -0500 (EST)
Hi,

I was wondering if anyone has come up with using neural networks
for discrete data - such as the one generally found in databases?

Most of the neural tools that are available for datamining tend
to deal with continuous numeric data. Are there tools or research
papers I can reference that handle discrete data?

I would be grateful for any pointers. Some work related to this that
I do know of is the work of bayesian classifiers (at Helsinki),
and connectionist expert systems (Caudill et. al.) - any other work,
and in particular research papers/reports would be great.

Sample code would be received with the warmest thanks - and a
very BIG Thank you.

regards
Omer
