Re: DM: Introductions

Hi Dorothy,

I am Colin HO, a PHD student in University of Essex, England,
Department of
Computer Science. My research is on Machine Learning, Data Mining. I
am
interested in this mailing list so that I can update myself with what
is
happening in the commercial market in the field of data mining. It is
always
interesting to know what kind of problems others faced and their
alternative
solutions provided by some experts. This knowledge, I believe, will
put me in a
good advantage of finding a job in data mining after I graduated.

A little knowledge a week may seems insignificant, but when they are
accumulated
for a period of a year, it may well turn out to have a good payoff.

I am always eager to test my ideas on real-world data sets. I have
just finished
my research on Discretization of Continuous Variables (First phase)
and it is
quite efficient and effective. My next phase of research is to look
at
prediction of values for multiple variables instead of a single
variable.

Cheers,
Colin
