Dorothy,
thanks for the opportunity you gave us to introduce each other.

I am a MSc student in Computational Intelligence at Royal Holloway 
College
- University of London. From September 1st I'll start a PhD at 
University
of Bristol, in the area of Neural Networks and Learning.

My interests are in the field of Computational and Statistical 
Learning
Theory, with applications to Machine Learning and Data Mining.
Currently I am working on Decision Trees and Neural Networks, but
I am also interested in Boosting and other techniques.

Essentially, every mathematical model which describes the process of
generalization from data can be of interest for me (even if it is not 
always easy to transform theoretical models in practical algorithms).

My project in Bristol will be about "Novelty Detection", which is
definitely a part of Data Mining: finding somehow 'anomalous' 
patterns in
data bases.
