Re: DM: Genetic Algorithms

If anyone is interested, I have a couple of papers of mine that
are relevant to ga's and data mining. They can be found at the
following url:

http://www.science.gmu.edu/~bwallet/publications.html

Specifically, the relevant titles are as follows:

A Genetic Algorithm for Best Subset Selection in Linear Regression
Using Genetic Algorithms to Search for Optimal Projections
Evolutionary Subspace Pursuit

All of these papers are available for downloading in postscript
format. An algorithm similar to the one described in the regression
paper has been adaptived to the discriminant analysis problem, and
this has actually been fielded in an operational DoD system. We
have been VERY happy with this approach.

BTW, any of you who didn't attend JSM missed out on some very good
and relevant talks. Massive data sets kept popping up all over the
place. I hope to see many of you at KDD starting tomorrow.

Brad
